July 16, 2012 (Raleigh, NC) — Dennis Stallings, AIA, a design principal at Pearce Brinkley Cease + Lee (PBC+L) in Raleigh, has been selected to chair the 2012 American Institute of Architects’ South Atlantic Region (AIA SAR) design awards committee.

The design awards committee establishes the schedule and dates for the AIA SAR design awards’ Call For Entries, the deadline for submissions, and the date the awards jury will convene, and reviews all criteria for awards submissions.

The design awards chair is also responsible for selecting the awards jury and its chair.

As chairman of the committee, Stallings will help present the awards to the winners when the AIA SAR conference takes place at the Loews Atlanta Hotel in Atlanta, Georgia, from September 19 to 22.

“I have always enjoyed participating in the design awards process,” Stallings said, “and I am honored to be selected to chair this year’s design awards for the South Atlantic Region.”

Dennis Stallings has served on numerous juries for design awards programs, including the Boston Society of Architects, AIA Philadelphia, AIA Georgia, and AIA Maryland. In 2010, he presented the design awards for AIA Indiana.

Stallings received a Master of Architecture and a Bachelor of Environmental Design in Architecture from North Carolina State University School of Design. In addition to his professional practice at PBC+L, since 1993, he has served as a Professor in Practice for the North Carolina State University College of Design where he teaches the fifth year Bachelor of Architecture professional studio.

All entries in the AIA SAR program, built or un-built, must be commissioned projects designed by licensed member architects of the Georgia, South Carolina, or North Carolina chapters of the AIA. The projects may be located anywhere in the United States or abroad. For more information go to www.aianc.org and click on “South Atlantic Region Design Awards.”
